12 film in a 24 back?

I borrowed a friend's extra back and have shot two rolls of 12 exposure with it. Then I noticed it is an A24 back. Will this affect the picture? If not, then why don't we all use A24 backs and shot 12 exposure film when we want to? I assume my photos will not come our right but don't know how they could be affected.

Welcome at Hasselbladinfo forum.

You will probably get 11 instead of 12 exposed frames.
This is due to the difference in film thickness, 120 roll film has the paperbacking that results in extra large spacings between the frames and loss of the last frame.
That is the only difference, no problems with the filmplane etc.

Thanks Polypal. That makes sense. The gearing is different to compensate for the thinner film. Much help.
