80mm C Lens DOF Preview Switch Question

Just recently purchased a 501C kit with an 80mm C lens (new version) in excellent condition from ebay. The seller had stated the lens had a CLA in Nov. 09. In trying out different functions to make sure everything works OK, I switched the DOF preview switch to stop down the aperature. Presumably by depressing the lower part of the switch it should release and return to the aperature open position. It doesn't release when doing this, but by a gentle lift of the top side it does. Evidently a pivot point doesn't allow enough travel to release it in the normal way. Experimenting, I placed a pin under the switch to raise it a bit and this did allow it to release correctly.
I did a search on this and found a few problems which I think were similiar, but didn't really state if the preview switch was out of adjustment, could be repaired, or if the problem was a precursor to bigger issues. Is this somewhat of a common problem. I don't use DOF preview a whole lot, but it would be nice to have it working correctly.

Got it fixed....

Removed the plastic switch piece from the lens and lightly sanded away some of the lower part of the inside surface of the plastic. This gave it a little more moving room as is was depressed to unlatch itself.

Ahh, sigh of relief....

It seems you did a good job Mark, congratulations!

By now quite a number of older and used CF lenses suffer from problems with the DOF control.
Most common problem is that the engaged DOF returns too easily to full aperture.
This is caused by wear of the metal part inside the control.
In most cases only the control needs to be replaced.

The knob is no longer available from Hasselblad as a separate item.
Hasselblad now supplies the knob with the attached body part of the lensbarrel.

Do not slide the DOF knob to the right to return to full aperture.
Press the LH part of the DOF towards the lens barrel to disengage the DOF control.
Sliding the DOF to the right causes excessive wear.
