Hi To Everyone:

My Name is Mike Zentena and this is my 1st Post on this Forum. I have been reading some of the Posts and Replys and I find this Forum very Informative. It is great to see Photographers Inter-Acting. I have tried the CFV 50 Digital Back on my 503CXi and I find it very Uncomfortable in the Vertical Position. The Salesman even put that 90 Degree Finder R2? He then let me try the CF Adapter on the H4D Body with my Lenses and it felt more Comfortable in Vertical Format with the H Body. I know the CFV 50 has a Larger Sensor and I know more about these backs. Does anyone know anyone that uses the CF Adapter on the H Series or someone that has any Comments please Respond.

Hi Mike,
I've tried it before I bought the H4D system.
Using the Focus is very tedious and you lose all the benefits of AF and the true focus.
Aperture and time works well only when CFE lenses. You put everything else on one lens and body.
I opted for the HC lenses get all the benefits of the use and H4D
the V-system completely leave.

My Tip: Try it self ;)

I'm using the CFV50 on the 500CM with the PM90 viewer. I feel this assembly very great, easy to use and I get incredible results. That doesn't mean that if I had no money constraint I would not change my gear for something more modern or efficient (AF, ASPH lenses, ....) but I'm not sure that this would be a reasonnable jump.

With the PM viewer the portrait/lanscape position isn't an issue anymore, and I appreciate very much that the square frame of the ground glass is wider than the picture itself. That help me to compose efficiently ( a little as I do with the Leicas.

The "small" croping factor eliminate the residual vigneting and distorsion. All my lenses (even the pre T* 80mm & 250 of 1970) give very good result.

this is probably the best investment I've done in photography since my first rolleicord in 1969.

If you think that vertical shot with a CFV is not comfortable, I think that using CF adaptor will not be comfortable too.
I have a CFV-39 and yes using it for vertical shot is a punishment ! At the begining it was no mater but in a studio withonly 3 meters wide ground, a vertical sensor is more practical.
Time to time I wunder if I will upgrade from CFV 39 to CFV-50 but my priority is to wait for wider sensor or twisting sensor.

I have a CF adapter and have used it on my H1D. Personally I think it is a great way to use V system lenses until you procure HC lenses. It is a very clever device and works very well, it is obviously slower than using a normal HC lens but the trigger button to reset the lens does the job well, and the routine of shooting soon becomes quite natural.

The current cost of the CF adapter though is prohibitive at around 1000 euros.

The only problem I have is that when using my Ixpress 528C Back, you are unable to use the multi shot function as you are unable to reset the shutter for the multiple shots.

As I have now procured a HC 35mm and 150mm all my V system lenses are currently up for sale and once the 180mm has gone I shall be selling my CF adapter as I will no longer have a need for it.

Good Morning:

I would like to Thank everyone for getting back to me. Your comments are very appreciated.
