Saw a couple on Eb*y recently. One went for $4500 (or so) and the other's minimum was $5500 and nobody bid. The one that nobody bid on, though, was a 2nd generation CFV-II, but the seller didn't post it that way, so everyone thought it was a first gen. I didn't bite because I didn't want to spend the money.

If I am remembering right, a forum member (here) purchased a 501C/M body, some type of PME Prism, and CFVII back for $3000, on one of those Craiglist-type sites. I'm looking for a similar deal myself, I would go for that deal in a heartbeat. Then, I would sell the body and prism, to lower the total cost of the CFVII back. Total cost maybe around $1500-$2000US? Still looking.

Truthfully, I think you'll be looking and waiting for quite a long while. The V96 is still over the price you're looking for. If I saw the back and the camea for $3000 I'd buy it too, but I don't believe you'll find it anytime soon, especially for a CFVII back.

As it is much cheaper but a very fine product maybe it would suit you.

Then there is HASSELBLAD CFV 16.6MP{VER 1}DIGITAL BACK for $4,400

And now you've got me drooling over the PhaseOneP30 I found there for a good price - darn you!
