Extension tube 10 - first post from a new member

Hello all

I've a question on using the Extension tube 10 (part no. 40363 according to Nordin) with the 503CW body. The scalloped edge of the tube will not permit mounting because of interference with the ring around the shutter release. I wonder whether I can grind or file some metal off the edge of the extension tube to provide the necessary clearance without weakening the integrity of the tube itself.

I'm a new member here, located in Newington Connecticut USA, and am returning to analog or, as I like to think of it, real photography with Leicas, Rollei TLRs and the Hasselblad.

Well, you probably could do that, I am not too worried about the structural integrity of the tube. But I would rather sell this one and buy one that fits as-is.

Extension ring 10

The extension ring is not the culprit .

I have compared and measured the release button (housing and button) between my 501CM and 503CW .
The button and the black "housing" measure absolutely the same .
Smallest diameter is 11,2mm and biggest is 11,7mm .

The 21mm extension ring fits perfectly on my 501CM while it shows the described issue with the 503CW .

From my logic , that means , that the release button device sits in a slightly different position between the 501CM and the 503CW .

Might be , that the release button position can be corrected/rearranged by an experienced technician . It will only be about 2/10 of a millimeter .
Looking closer to the release button position on both cameras , I can see a little difference in their position , which in turn will cause the described issue .

The release button is rivetted in the shell of the body, I see no way to move it in a technically satisfying way.

If it is only 2/10mm I would take the extension ring and head for my lathe to remove (say) 3/10mm of the ring.

Roy,
yes, you can grind off some metal so that the tube fits your camera body. I did the same also with my older style bellows.
