Filter Size Question

I recently purchased a couple of Hasselblad filters to fit my 80mm C lens which is Bay 50. When I odered the filters the description said B50 and the filters I recieved fit OK, but the designation on the side of the filter is B57. Please tell me what I don't seem to understand about the number difference.

Hasselblad and filter measurements are a confusing matter to say the least.

B 50 (bayonet 50) is actually 57 mm.

B 60 used with CF and later lenses is actually 67 mm.

Sometimes sellers try to be more acurate than necessary and call B 50 a size B 57 filter.

I bought a LEE adapter ring which says Bay60, it never locked on any of my Hasselblad lenses [60mm, 150mm], i bought a Tiffen step-up ring adapter from Bay60 to 77 and that fit perfectly, so i am confused what is the difference then? and what i can do with that LEE AR? Or is there another LEE adapter ring that will fit the lens? I don't want to use many adapter rings if i have to use first step-up ring then another 77 adapter ring, this will not be practical for me for shooting outdoor with filters, i was going to buy another B60 adapter ring but for Cokin Z-Pro holder but i don't like to use this system holder and i don't want to carry many holders and adapter rings of different brands, so what is the solution? sell that LEE one?

Hello Professional--

I just checked how my Lee/Hassy Bay60 adapter ring fits onto my CF lenses and found that it does mount with a twist in the same fashion as lets say a Hassy lens hood; however, if you continue to twist with a little additional force, the metal bayonet part of the Lee ring will disengage and the outer plastic part of the Lee adapter will seperate from the metal bayonet part. At that point you will have to push the Lee plastic adapter ring part, back onto the bayonet part which is left on the Hassy bayonet on the lens. This is still a snug fit and with care can be used with care without much concern. I suspect that Lee uses some sort of adhesive when assemblying the adapter ring and since mine is quite old it probably dried out and allows the seperation. I will have to attempt to repair this in some manner or purchase a new adapter.

Hey Don,

Sorry, but i didn't understand your process, English is not my language so i couldn't understand what you telling here, but i will try the adapter again and see if it will work again, as i really don't want to use force to fit it and damage something, could be that i bought a wrong one, will see.
