Fifty years ago I could focus the dim screen of my Rollei Automat with no difficulty. But time takes its toll. In recent years my focusing, even with the much brighter Acute Matte 42165 screen of my 500C/M, was becoming increasingly uncertain. Today I installed a new Acute Matte D microprism/split image screen 42215 and went out to take some test shots. It was a revelation. Previously I would crank the focus back and forth between clearly out of focus in both directions and try to estimate the mid point. Now I just set the focus to line up the verticals and take the picture. I wish I'd made the switch years ago. Some of my favorite photos would be a lot sharper.
