I,m amazed by the quality of my new camera but unfortunately it stuck in the middle of a big job!!
Only 10900 shots and the aux shutter collapsed
waiting for hasselblad to replace it cause its still on warranty, and hope they do it, but pissed off i think this should not happen at all

I am sorry to hear of your problems.

Any equipment containing mechanical and or electronic parts can fail.
Murphies law says this happens especially when it causes severe problems, always during a paid shoot never when you do work for your self.

We used to carry a spare body and several film backs in analogue days. The price for a digital camera makes a spare body uneconomical to invest in. Mayor problems do not occur often.

Stuff happens. I've had brand new cars, tv's and camera's do worse. I took two brand new Leica R8's to Alaska to photograph humpback whales and they BOTH failed. Leica replaced them but that didn't do me much good at the time. Then I took one of the new ones to Ireland with my nieces and nephews and it failed (shutter problem) on the very first shot in Ireland. I was royally pissed. I eventually got them both fixed and they worked perfectly for 2-3 years.

New equipment that is passed the first 2-3 months of regular use without problems can be trusted more than brand new gear.

Do not rely too much on factory end control.
Most gear is so complicated that only part of the functions is tested before the things are released to the unpaid guinea pigs of the industry.
This goes for cameras , cars, you name it.

The fact stays that a professional shoot or a trip to isolated areas is best covered by a spare camera.
Often argued by dealers in second hand cars:
"A well kept second hand car is more reliable than a new car."
I know of some famous German car makers that will have a difficult time proving this is not true.

yeah, maybe ill have to think about getting a spare body
anyway the images are so sperior than anything ive seen that anything is worth it
this camera is addictive!
now waiting from hasselblad to give me an answer but surely everything will be ok!
