Hasselblad A24 Data Back

Hello all,

I have a Hasselblad A24 data back in unused condition. However I have not been able to find that such a back was ever made. It is not in Mr. Nordin's Compendium, nor have I been able to locate any information about this back.

Does anyone here have any information on it? On Club Hasselblad they show an A12 data back, and mine looks just like it except it is A24.

Would appreciate any input to solve this mystery.

Roman

Your A24 data back could be a one off made by Hasselblad on request.

Does it differ in any way from the A12 data back?

From the pic of the A12, this one looks identical except its a 24....

Serial number is 39EH101181 if that might be useful.

It came in a plain white box with Hasselblad sticker on it with the statement

A24D and the serial number....

Here are some pictures of the back:

No, but there are lots of them for sale on Ebay. It was just an old Psion computer. In fact there is one near me for $10 bucks. Just have to find a cable next....

Will somebody please tell me what this did?
I suppose it printed the "exif"-data on the film. Or?

Very intresting!

regards,
Olof

Best I can tell you can type anything you want and it will be printed on the film. I imagine you could add exposure info, or whatever.

Since it has a serial port on it, it may be possible to attach it to a usb computer and maybe even do more with it.

Information regarding these data backs seems to be sketchy and very hard to find.

You can add 32 alpha numeric characters which will print on the edge of the film.

An A12d prototype recently sold at auction for 420 pounds, amazing!!! Anbody know what condition B/A means??

Hasselblad Data Magazine A12D prototype

Sold For €420

prototype of the later data recording magazine to print 32 alpha numerique features along the edge of the film (Serial no. 20036c.1990, condition: B/A)

Isn't there a site somewhere where you can put in your serial number to find out the age of the equipment? I am sure I have used one for Blad accessories . . . At least you would know its age.

Oh, I know when it was made, 1992. It's just that according to any information I have been able, or not been able, to find this thing should not even exist.

And yet here it is....

Most Hasselblad equipment, except lenses, can be dated by the VHPICTURES code:

V=1
H=2
P=3
etc.
S=0

You would be surprised to find how many one off items were produced by Hasselblad.
As long as the buyer was willing to pay the bill Hasselblad would adapt or design anything for the V series.

Those were the days................
