Jpg's with CFV-39 digital back.

Hi everyone - my first post, please be gentle !
I am fairly new to m/f digital photography and have just splashed out on a CFV-39 to go with my 203FE and 555ELD cameras. The processing lab I use wants me to download Jpg's at 300dpi resolution. However, using Phocus the Tiff's come out fine at 300dpi, (very large file, circa 120Mb), but Jpg's come out at only 72dpi.
I have read and re-read the on-line Phocus manual, (U.K. v6), regarding the "export" section, which even gives me 3 choices of Jpg size. Obviously I want the full size, but I can't get more than 72dpi, as it will not allow me to change the dpi. Any comments from users would be most appreciated.
Best wishes,
Mike.
P.S. Using latest Apple iMac with Phocus, but no other software yet, (i.e. NO Lightroom or Aperture).

I find that files should be exported as raw and converted to jpeg's in other software as I'm no expert in Phocus. In Photoshop when converting to jpeg, you can set options such as dpi and quality.

I convert raw files in tiff for labs with pocus 2.
Very big files indeed.

It's possible to convert tiff in jpg later.

Don't worry about DPI, the real dimension that you have to consider is pixels, so just give them the biggest file (pixels x pixels) you can do (which should be 39mpix)

when a lab (or anyone) says that they need this file at 300dpi they normally refer to the output size, so lets say you want to do a 10"x8" print, the file size that you should give, in order to have a 300dpi print is 10" multiplied by 300 dpi = 3.000 pixels and 8" times 300dpi= 2400 pixels,

so with a 6 mpix file (3000x2000) you get a decent (300dpi) print measuring 10"x8"

your 72dpi files will be as good as if they were 300dpi, again the only think you should care about when giving files around, is how many pixels that file has.

Hope to make sense

PS.

a good chart that i just found through google:

Is not converting to a highly compressed standard (JPEG) against the quality you can achieve with the CFV39?

In other words do you have the right lab for MF quality?

if you don't change lab and need an immediate fix just batch output the images to TIFF as 8-bit to keep the images smaller in file size and then convert to jpeg in Photoshop to send them the files at 300dpi as they request....

I send my colour digital images to a pro lab in Spain via the internet using their own custom designed software that connects me directly to the printers and I print at 260dpi at whatever size i need on Fuji photographic paper....I always send files as either Adobe (1998) RGB or S-RGB 8-bit files.....

CFV-39/Jpg's

Hi,
Many thanks for your suggestion - I have just downloaded a trial copy of Photoshop Elements 8, which is perfect for the lab...... (more expense !).
Best wishes,
Mike.

Just for completeness, Phocus does allow you to specify 300dpi JPEGs. Just duplicate the 72dpi preset and change it to 300dpi. This makes sense if you also specify a dimension other than "full size". Then your export will be just the right amount of pixels for the resolution that your printer needs - without a roundtrip in Photoshop.

If you want to go through Photoshop anyway then of course you are better off with the tweakable scaling features in there.
