Mirror wont stay down

Hello all

I have been shooting 35mm for some time (Leica M3) but I am a first time Hasselblad user. I purchased a used 500c and all was great until today when the shutter jammed. I was able to resolve that issue but ever since two other issues have arisen.

Issue one: Even though both the body and the lens are cocked, I cannot get the lens to mount.

Issue two: The mirror no longer stays down when the camera is cocked. It goes down about half way then flips up when the box is cocked fully.

Would anybody have a solution for this other then sending out for repair?

Thanks in advance
Robert

On the RH side of the body you will find a small control that can be pushed in.
It serves to prerelease the mirror.
Could be that control is stuck.
Try to pull this control down, move it towards the bottom of the body.
Your description of the problem made me think the cause is more serious.

Maybe it is time to look for a younger body like a 500CM.
I happen to know there will be a late model 500CM for sale in classifieds in a little while..........

Thanks for the reply. The pre-release does not appear to be stuck. Sadly you may be right about finding a newer body.
