Scanning Xpan negs with a Hasselblad/Imacon

Just a quick question from a newcomer to both Xpan cameras and Imacon/Hasselblad scanners. Do you cut up your strips of negs into individual frames and scan them in the dedicated Xpan holder or do you use the 35mm strip holder? I'm very reluctant to cut up my negs into individual frames but have found that scanning the Xpan in the 35mm strip holder doesn't work well. For some reason the focus doesn't hold across the entire Xpan frame and one side is invariably soft. I've discussed this with Hasselblad who confirm that there is a problem scanning Xpan in this manner, and have indeed been very receptive, but it would be informative to have opinions from regular Xpan/Imacon users. The idea of taking the scissors to all my neg sheets fills me with horror!

I use the 6x35mm holder without problem. Can't see how part of the frame would be out of focus.

I did have a problem with the neg slipping in the holder as it went in and out to scan 6 frames, but nothing with a single pass.
