Self Introduction

Howdy All,

Well, Site Admin wants me to introduce myself, something I could have done much earlier ...

I have been shooting with various formats during the last 40 years. Currently (the last two years), I'm digitizing my (too large) collection of negatives and slides and I still use my 4 x 5 '' camera with film material. Below that size, I shoot digital.

Let me tell you, as introduction, a "little Hasselblad story". Ages ago, I bought my first 500 body and a 50 mm lens. When digital backs started to become a reality I investigated for a CFV back, appealed by the idea that I could "recycle" most of my gear and lenses and still use a classical back for BW rolls, on occasions. Prices at that time were, in my opinion, too high. So I waited, hoping that the market forces would favor me. After two or three years, my 500-like equipment was still in the box, underused and the prices of the CFV backs did not drop significantly. Thus I ended-up selling my entire 500-like gear set and used the funds to finance a high quality MF scanner that is almost daily in operation since.

The point with this simple story is that I entirely underestimated the reaction of one of our Girls. She took, when she was younger, many nice pictures with one of the 500 body and was very upset that I sold everything without even asking her before ... I tried to argue: "it was in the box for more than 2 years" or "when did you borrow a MF body & lens last time" and other questions of the same vein were not receivable arguments ...

Obviously, selling that classical MF gear was a mistake !

Wish you all a pleasant WE
