Shutter not releasing when back attached

Hi folks
I recently purchased a 1978 500 CM. The camera and lens seem to work fine, but when I attached the A12 back, with or without film, I can't seem to the shutter to release.

I just want to ask peoples advice - to see my findings seem accurate.

- I can wind film on, and get 1,2,3, etc.
- I can keep winding, it doesn't *stop* when I get to 1, 2, etc.
- Indicator on back always stays white, except for when I do reverse click with the winder to reset the counter
- I've never seen the back indicator go red.
- the little metal bar that comes out of the camera to hit the indicator when the shutter is triggered doesn't seem to be able to penetrate the indicator slot. When I try to release the shutter, I can feel that it's trying to push here, but nothing is happening

So, it looks like the indicator is jammed, and while it's apparently not crucial to the working of the overall system, the jam is causing the entire camera to jam.

I've had a look at the exploded views of the A12, and I don't fancy taking it apart. I'm in Brussels, so I guess I need to find someone to repair it here.

Thoughts, anyone?
