Shutter Release and Winder CW

I've been trying to find the information on the winder but can't seem to find it.

Would you know if the infrared remote on the winder cw is capable of locking for a long exposure or would I need to get a mechanical release for that?

Thanks!

I am no expert on the IR remote of the Winder CW, this is one of the items that I do not have (I prefer the EL-series by far to a motor-equipped 503 CW). But my friend Peter is selling RF remote controls that he has modified, either for use with Hasselblad EL- models or for use with the winder CW. With this remote it is possible. So let me quote from the manual (which I have written myself):

"If the release knob is pushed for more than two seconds in Single-Mode the camera will be released but the auxiliary shutter of the camera will stay open and the camera will not be cocked until the release knob is pushed again. This is intentionally to allow time exposures without keeping the release button depressed all the time."

Thanks Ulrik.

I am trying to decide if I would get the winder cw or just a mechanical cable release.

Your friend's mod sounds great. I'd like to know more. Do you have a link to the product?

Thanks.

U/lrik,

Feel free to write more about this remote control or upload the manual.
It looks like a welcome addition to the remotes from Hasselblad.
Of course any personal information is best sent by PM.

Well, o.k., I did not go into detail because Peter of course asks for (a little) money for his product. He has modified available RF-Remote Controls to Hasselblad EL-series cameras and to the Hasselblad CW winder.

Main advantages are the higher range compared to IR-Remote Controls and the modest price. I myself have such a device for my EL-series cameras and it works fine.

We have tested the function of these modified remote controls and I wrote manuals in German and English.

Peter is currently out of stock but has already ordered new remote controls for modification.

Just send me a PM if you want to contact Peter yourself. Pictures of the remote controls can be seen in his completed auctions no. 370277796794 and no. 370277796446.
