Got a new SWC last week - Love it!
Have already pushed a roll of film through it, so I know it works OK.
So I brought it as my only camera on a one week trip to Istanbul.
And had a terrible thing happening today. Took a pic, and then tried to wind the camera - It was jammed!
Looking at the crank side of the SWC, it was like the cog that winds the film had pushed the back out of position. So there was a little gap between the house and the back. The cogs didn't interlock. Tried to put in the dark slide, couldn't detach the back, popped the back open (wasted a whole roll of film! But fortunately just 1 picture taken..) - Still couldn't get the camera to wind.
Figured it was busted and it was going to repair anyway - Brute force wind the camera... And it worked! Could detach the back. Put on my other back, and took a picture - Winded... and it went well!
But now I don't dare use the "faulty" back. Or was it the back? And I'm scared it will happen again. I've never had this happen before. Though I'm used to a 200 series camera. Is there any difference in winding mechanism between the SWC and the 200/500?
It might have been that the back wasn't properly installed - But I didn't think that could happen? Is it really possible to misalign and still be possible to remove the dark slide + take picture?
I'll be ultra careful in the future. But I'd still like to know the cause - So if any of you guys have a clue?
