Tripod ring for 350 C T*

Hello everybody,
I recently acquired a beautiful 350 C T* lens. Before starting using it I was wondering if it isn't too heavy for the camera's mount. Should I use it (on the tripod, of course) like that? I quickly searched for a tripod ring but all I could found were various chinese replicas.
Thank you for your advices (both on using the lens or where I could buy a tripod ring) :) .
 
I Have One, and It's Not Too Heavy.

I'm using it today, without a tripod (although I have a small one along, just in case).

One of my favorite lenses to handhold, I've had good results, at 1/500 and even at 1/250.

It's a fairly lightweight lens, in my opinion. Mostly air inside the tube.

Yes, I read already your post about your shooting. It looks encouraging :) I will try it too handheld.
 
I found the combination of 350 mm lens + tripod very unbalanced and in combination with 1,4 extender beyond the capabilities of my ArcaSwiss B1 ballhead. Therefore I bought a tripod collar at the well known auction site for it. The German seller (can't remember the name) offers these collars here and then for the following lenses: 350 CF, 350 C and Variogon 140-280. I have the collars for 350 C and Variogon C 140-280 and like them very much.

I am also trying to secure one of those tripod rings. However, it seems that a genuine one (not the Chineese stuff) is a rare bird to catch.

I am highly unimpressed by the genuine tripod ring (which was made for the Variogon). The stel band that goes round the lens will for sure mark the barrel. I had one of these genuine rings and did not even think of mounting it. You can see a picture of my variogon with the non-original tripod adapter attached in this thread.

I bought the tripod mount for the 140-280mm and use it on my 350mm CF lens. I had to mount it backwards to get the balance right and I lined the steel band with felt so it wouldn't mar the lens. Works good enough but I like the looks of Ulrik's better. Where did you get it Ulrik?

this tripod mount shows up here and then on the German ebay site. Unfortunately I do not remember the name of the seller but the last time he offered it is only weeks ago. I guess it will show up again

The seller where I bought my ring is showing up again (auction no. 1404943991369) unfortunately rings for 350 mm C and 140-280 C are sold out.
