2000FC/M + flash + pocket wizard question

...so i'm gonna use my 2000 FC/M for the first time and I didnt know about the 1/90 sec. flash sync....im used to the 500 series with up to 1/500 sec flash sync.....

.....I never use flash on camera and always Pocket Wizards firing strobes all controlled manually by metering etc, i.e. never a flash connected to the Hasselblad using TTL....

my question is can i use flash sync above 1/90 sec with the Pocket Wizards or will the signal be blocked??? in which case i will use my C lenses and put the 2000 FC/M in C mode and work as with my 500 C/M

Any shutter speed set faster than 1/90 on a 2000 series camera deactivates the PC connection on the side of the camera. Not sure how this will affect what you are trying to do.

if thats the case then it wont fir the Pocket Wizard which will be connected to it.......

whats the thinking behind a 1/90 speed synch as opposed to the 500 series synching at any speed up to its 1/500 limit???

Hi,

Sorry about the flash limit. In short, due to the construction of shutter in the body it is very difficult with high flash syncs due to its very nature. 1/90 is for medium format very fast. However faster can only be had with using the sync in the lenses (i.e. C lenses) and as such will work as a 500 camera. Any item that can be triggered from the camera, in 500 series, should in principle be possible to trigger from the lens. The flash is totally blocked from the body when using higher shutter speeds (body again) than 1/90.

1/90 is the fastest shutter speed where both shutter curtains are fully open for a brief period. To attain faster shutter speeds the second curtain starts to close before the first curtains travel is complete. When using flash, the flash would only expose a narrow strip of the film.

not a problem....i shoot strobes on most jobs so i use as a 500 camera if need be...have done so already.....I mainly wanted the 1/1000 and 1/2000 speed to be able to shoot wide open in the sun for shallow depth of field....as opposed to being limited to f8 at 1/500 or even f11 at 1/500 cos I live in high high illumination part of the world.......
