Hi, as I understand it the CFV50 and CFV39 are identical in all respects apart from the sensor specifications (and of course, price). Also, even though they offer different resolution, they also have the same sensor dimensions (36.7x49.1mm) with a 1.1 crop factor.
Separately, my 503CW is black, so although there would be no technical problems joining them, they would not cosmetically match.
I am also attracted by the ability to rotate the sensor as the V series does not naturally work being used on its side. I believe Leaf offers this in some of its backs. Not sure about Phase One.
