Does anyone know if a DCS Pro Back (kodak) that currently fits with a 555ELD will wok on a H1 setup. I have seen notes that say possibly, but id conversion is needed this will be hard to find.
No, The Original DCS Pro Back was dedicated for the 555ELD. The 2nd generation was the Pro Back Plus in 2001. If memory serves, this allowed use on the 555ELD, 553ELX, 503CW, 503CXi cameras and with the purchase of a Kapture group cable you could also use it with the 500/501.
Kodak did manufacture a DCS 645H back that was specific for the H1.
Basically, the Kodak Probacks are all the same ... 16 meg., square format. The dedicated mounts are different as well as the source of power in different models ... and some of the models that didn't need to be tethered to a big Quantum battery didn't come until later ... like the 645M (Mamiya), 645C (Contax) and 645H Hasselblad H) ... none of which were 645 sensors ... they were still square. Thse backs would only work on the camera they were made for.
The ProBack was pretty innovative for its time ... but care should be taken with the later models which require a proprietary battery no longer made, and scarce as an honest man in Congress : -)
