But there are 2 different CFV. The CFV and the CFV II.
CFV should not be used with 2000 except with the "flash trigger". However my 2000FC/M works fine in M or C mode wth my CFV-39 (set as 500cm) without any wire.
"except with the flash trigger"....what do you mean?
I have 500 C/M and 2000 FC/M bodies...the latter i use to shoot wide at 1/1000 or 1/2000 in big sunlight for shallow depth of field and a bit of magic with no flash.....the 500 C/M i use with Pocket Wizards on location and studio with portable flash battery pack etc
would love a digital back to ditch the Nikon digital and just shoot Hasselblad switching between film and digital back depending on the vibe i want to shoot
I have 50mm CFE / 80mm CF /150mm C and 250mm C Zeiss lenses
Well. The CFV is made to be trigged mecanicaly with 500 and electronic with 203 202 205. The 202,203,205 need to be modifed to works with CFV and this modification allows only F mode. To use all 2000 and 200 body (modified or not) in C mode (except the 202 !) it need a flash wire between lens and the CFV.
Particulary stupide indeed. But that's it.If you do not like this, most of your pictures will be half mageta half back.
As I have FE lenses and CF one, most of time I use CF lenses in F mode. However shychro flash at 1/125 or 1/500 may be important too. The big step with CFV (I had Kodak probak before) is that you do not need any wire for the digtal back. But if you use C mode with a 2000 or 200 you need one.
In my case, when use my CFV st in "500" mode, it works with my 2000FCM in C or F mode.
I tried with my 203FE in C mode with my CFV but it does not works.
A good solution should have been this one: Use the miror postion of the 203 FE as trigger and add connectors the side of the "ELD" to contact the CFV. But the actual modifcation made by Hasselblad kill the value of using of E film back, so I understand that Hasselblad wanted to force the use of digital after conversion. And then you need to set up iso on the CFV and on the 203FE
The 2000FCM is particulary interesting as TTL flash with digital does not work properly and digital back allows you to work without light cells. BTW if you use a 203FE with flash with C lenses, you need a wire between lens and cfv and an other one between CFV to your flash.
