Hello all.
I've been absent for some weeks - most recently because I got to take some time out in the outback with my shooting buddy. It's something we try to do 2 times a year but alas we seem to average once each 9 months only!
Anyway after recovering from a bad health period we got away and I managed to shoot some rolls of 6x6 and Xpan which I hope to get back from the lab this weekend. We traveled about 3,000kms.
IMPORTANTLY, a treasured roll of Ektar 100 Jurgen so kindly sent me (still not available here down under) got used and I am really looking forward to seeing the scans! I heard a pro shooter podcast and the consensus was that Ektar is THE best colour film ever with superb grain that is perfect for scanning. It seems Kodak has a real winner.
The outback is ideal for XPan shooting - often the "bleak" vast horizons lacking the "traditional subject focal point" are best captured and the story is best conveyed in that format. I hope my results live up to that expectation.
I'll be interested to see how the square format portrays the outback too.
I'll post in the appropriate places. Cheers.
