This is a scan from a 1977 issue of Popular Photography. This may not reflect the list price that Hasselblad had suggested, but gives a fair idea of what they could be purchased for at the time. Not sure how readable this will be, it appears to have lost some size in the upload.
Using and inflation calculator, the Hassy cost approx. $850 in 1971, with 80mm 2.8 Planar.
Factoring in an inflation rate of 462%, the Hassy would cost $4776.98 today!
That would have been a small fortune for my dad to spend in 1971. I wanted to know that because spending that much back then was a lot for my dad to fork over.
I'm surprised, considering he was not a pro photographer.
As it turns out, he only used the camera two times. Than it sat for all those years in the original box.
May I suggest that the inflation rate from 1971 is much higher than stated? More like 10x IMHO. Something like $8000 was the last posted price I've seen for a new SWC.
