Hi from Oman

Warm greetings from Oman everyone!
I am new to the forum and just joined after upgrading from 35mm digital to the H4D 31. I am not a professional photographer, but have been at it (on and off) since 1983. My last camera was a Nikon D700, which gave me some great photos, especially with the N series lenses. I just received my H4D and realize that there is a lot to learn. To begin with I needed to get a good portrait lens and was trying to decide between the Zeiss and the HC 150mm. That's how I found this site, and am thankful to those who posted on this issue.
Now I need advice on choosing the right flash system. I don't do any studio work (yet), and just need something that is fully compatible and simple to use.
All the best to all...

Welcome at the forum and congratulations on your new Hasselblad camera.

The 150 is the most used lens for portraits.
Choice between FUji or Zeiss depends on method of operation and personal preference.
Zeiss lenses are legendary for portrait use.
Fuji lenses offer comlete range of functions with H cameras like metering and auto focus.

When looking for a Zeiss lens do not forget older silver lenses.
These are excellent for portrait use and can be found for 300-500 USD for lenses in near mint condition.
They require the use of a lens adapter which is more expensive.

Welcome to the forum. Oman is on my 'hope to visit' list since my sister and BIL spent a year there. Lots of exquisite scenery to capture with your new kit! Enjoy.

Thx polypal!

Thanks for your valuable advice and warm welcome polypal. I will look up the older Zeiss lenses - any suggested sites? Is the CF adapter sufficient to cover the older lenses or do you need another type?
All the best to you.

Suggested sites? That is easy.
