Hi guys,

Just taken delivery of a 503CW in good condition. I look forward to testing my usage and then making good use. Many years ago I had a 500CM, 80mm and 150mm. I took some of my best photographs with that system. I sold it due to financial pressures. So the new camera is partly nostalgia but also a hope that my going back to old ways will make me more thoughtful about my photography. I hope to pick up a PM45 and maybe a CW winder and a cpl other lenses - maybe a 60mm and a 120mm. Comments on these options would be welcome.

Hello Chris, welcome here.

Choice of lenses is often recommended as a lens plan.
A classic combination: 50/80/150 mm that can be extended at both ends
with a 40 mm and a 250 or even longer lenses.
Lenses should be selected primarily on their angle of view / focal length.

Some lenses offer special features like the 100 Planar and the 120 Makro Planar.
The 100 mm is well known for extreme low distortion and high resolution.
The 120 is designed for Macro use.

Do not forget lenses from the C series.
Full metal designs that helped the 500 series get started.

Whatever you choose rest assured there are only two kinds of lenses from Carl Zeiss: very good ones and even better ones.
