Loose Fitting Bay Filter

Hi,

I recently purchased a 60mm Polarising filter but the bayonet fitting on the filter is very loose and it does not lock on properly to the lens.

On the Polarising filter the 3 filter lugs of the filter are 'flexible', i.e. only fixed at one end to provide the required tension to hold the filter securely to the lens bayonet lugs.

I can only assume that over time and use the filter lugs have become worn and have lost the spring tension required to fit securely to the lens.

Is there any way to re-tension the filter lugs, otherwise the filter is just way too loose on the lens to be usable and I will have to return it to the seller.

Regards

Kevin

I had a similar problem with a B60 - so much so that every time I took the lens cap off, the filter came with it!

I 're-tensioned' the three little prongs - however, I can't remember which way. I think it's more likely that I pulled them out and away from the glass. Try it - no need to take a HILTI to it, just a little tweak.

Sorry can't be of further help.

Both filters and the front ring on the lens are susceptible to wear.
A little re positioning of the filter lugs often cures the problem.

Some lens caps have a tendency not to lock properly either.
With time the plastic looses some of the additives that kep the plastic soft.
Only remedy buy a new lens cap.
After market lens caps are made of softer plastic and give less problems.
