Anyone got tips and suggestions?

Do I need to get a different lens?

Does one do it with bellows? (sounds depraved!)

I've never used med format for macro but would love to get into it. I have the H2 and HC 80, 150, 210 & 50-110 lenses. Any advice most appreciated.
 
Hi! How close do you want to get to your subject? What kind of macro scenes do you wish to do? Perhaps your could get a quality close up diopter for your 150mm or 210mm lens. Of course you could also purchase the 120mm macro lens for your camera but I would try something less expensive
first!

The close up diopter sounds the thing. I'd love to be able to do shots of things like dew drops in the garden, flowers and bugs etc. I haven't ever gone into this much, I was looking at a macro lens for the canon but never followed through on it.

I would recommend the B+W brand. They are a quality filter at a reasonable price. The Canon brand are especially sought after as they are a two element unit of very high quality, for a premium price. I would use your 150mm or 210mm as this will give you some distance from your subject. The problem is I'm not sure the strengh you will need. Perhaps someone else will chime in!

Why not look for one or more extension tubes?
There is no macro bellows for the H series.

Extension tubes come in 13, 26 and 52 mm size.
Moving into the world of macro frightens some users because you need to get acquainted with tables for magnification, object size and distance.

You could skip the technology and start by mounting an extension tube and see what it does.
Used extensions for the H series are not easy to find.
New ones range from 240 till about 300 GBP.

Used diopters and extension tubes for the V series are in good supply.
