That’s is one of my favorite bodies for sure! The 38mm is such a well designed lens. Wonderful shot.

David, the camera was an Hasselblad SWC/M with its fixed 38mm Biogon lens. Great camera.
That is, indeed, a wonderful picture.

I made the "mistake" of buying a SWC around 18 months ago, and now all my other cameras sit idle, jealous of the SWC and muttering mean things about it when I'm not around. But I know.....

I've used it with my Blad CFV 50 digial back as well--not as wide a rendering but still terrific. Also with the new P27 film back for an almost xpan-aspect ratio. That's really a terrific match.
And of course a lot of fun doing near-macro work with it. Ultra-sharp up close.

I've had mine for about 25 years, swapped it for a Mamiya 7 with 45mm three times and couldn't make my mind up, but ended up opting for the SWC. I flew to America to collect a CFV 16 and Hasselblad zoom lens; with tokens it was cheaper than posting and insurance. However, I couldn't get on with the square crop factor and sold that on. Terrific quality but dreadful crop factor.

I was intending to buy a 907x but I learned from Hasselblad that it could never have IBIS, so I opted for the X2D after selling a load of loved gear to fund it. I'm devastated that the value of the X2D 100C has been wiped out, but that's digital.

I had the Mamiya 7 with the (I believe it's actually a) 43mm, too. Amazing sharpness. I just couldn't bond with the Mamiya. I also picked up the Blad.

A village near the sea in Normandy (X2D and 55 mm)

I had the great good fortune to be stationed in a very small outfit by a very small village about an hour south of Paris for more than two and one half years. It changed me like no other event in my life. I have been back a few times. France calls, with a smile. The remoteness of the post made it possible, necessary to interact with the local French community. It was a joy I still remember well and am grateful for. I have passed through Normandy, Mont St. Michel, Avranches. The people were kind and patient while suffering my awful French and I was even a guest in a game of Petanque in Avranches, an invited guest by way of courtesy and kindness of the French.

The food? Well, it is a capital crime to serve a bad meal in France. Lamb raised on salt hay, luscious pork, potatpoes the Gites lady drove 17Km for. The joy and gratitude have not dimmed in the 60 years whic hhave passed. France! Chapeau!
