So the '4' only really adds this True-Focus capability. Anything else I'm missing?
Sounds like there will never actually be a H3DII-60 and that the Dalsa sensor will make its first appearance in the 4.
I feel a bit underwhelmed...

Yaw sensors cost a few cents these days, the rest is calculus and an override to the autofocus system. Can't see it costing a lot. Just seems quite a minor change surrounded by marketing hyperbole. Even apple (the masters of marketing) didn't give the yaw sensor in the new iphone that much PR bandwidth. And take note H - immediately after apple announce something - its on their website.
If they make a black bodied version - will that warrant a '5' designation ? Black to celebrate the blackness of space ;-)

Lets wait for the technical specs and then make a judgement. If the AF is
that revolutionary as advertised it deserves a '4' IMO.

Apparently Hasselblad does not find their website important enough to announce a new H series camera.
That is why I thought it could be a hoax.
That leaves the question what Hasselblad will offer to owners of the H3D50MP.
Those cameras were sold with the option to upgrade to 60 MP for a fixed price.

This could explain why the exact release date of the 60 has been so vague - they were probably waiting until the new focus system was perfected in the 4.
My bet is:
1) There will be no H3DII-60
2) Existing 50 owners get upgraded to the H4-60 spec for the price they were quoted (if any) to get a H3DII-60 when launched
If this is the case - I will exercise my upgrade option. If not, I will be very unhappy

I read this about Phocus from a Hasselblad person:
Phocus 2.0
- User configurable, save-able, and exportable(!) layout presets. Can be shared amongst peers or used to streamline the interface.
- 'Triggers'. ie Connect a CF card and the interface will switch to any of your layouts (For example, Import tools etc etc). Or connect a camera and have the interface switch ot your own predefined layout and setup an adjustment - ready to go
- Floatable tool Palettes
- Which includes the Navigator tool, can be resized and used as a Loupe.
- Tethered capture interrupt - ie Shoot tethered and work with images simultaneously
....with more to come apparently....
Very interesting how they claim their new focusing system is way better than the multi-point focusing of the likes of Nikon etc.....I read the spec and sounds great but multi-point focusing works perfectly in my experience......

Correct, there will be no H3DII60.
If you have purchased an H3DII50 and have made arrangements with your dealer to upgrade to the H3DII60, then you will receive the H4D60 for the same price.
For those who own H3DII50 and we not initially planning an upgrade to the H3DII60, you also have an option to upgrade to H4D60 by December 31, 2009.

If was so easy to implement as suggested above, why has no one else done it?
IMO, this solves a major issue with AF for Medium Format. Focus re-compose on such a large area is problematic at best. Multipoint AF as used on 35mm DSLRs is a clunky solution, where this is an elegant and automatic use of the integrated system.
Hats off to the Hasselblad wizards.
For those that bought into a H3D-II/50 I would check with your authorized dealer to see if the new H4/60 will be the upgrade. Currently if you buy a H3D-II/50, the H4/60 upgrade will be a swap out for $$8,000.

You will be able to pay the list price difference betweent he new model h4 less the list pirce for the H3II 50 - you can move up to the H4 50 or the H4 60 - it is a body upgrade that will start in 2010. You can if you wish just upgrade to the new focus system and keep your current back - I have just ordered upgrades to 1 of our stuido H3 II 50 and my own personal unit.
