Just one little quibble....I didn't know the "tundra" extended as far south as the Netherlands....even before taking the effects of global warming into account. Twenty years from now the question may be "Tundra? What tundra?".
Indeed, we typically are into lots of mud, not into snow. This winter is uncharacteristically cold and snowy. In january the coldest day was -15,8 ˚C, in december it was -18.4 ˚C on Deelen airforce base, close to where I live.
So it can get quite chilly in the Netherlands.
